| Thanks for the replies, I've opened up the packet of the old, thick base gaskets and they are 1.0mm thick. The new head gaskets are black and slightly compressible, look like fibre and are 0.7mm thick.
If I am to check the squish, do I need to do this with the gaskets in place and the barrel torqued down fully? Would this deform the head gasket (assuming it is single-use)? Or can I just fit the naked barrel "good and tight" and add on the gasket thicknesses?
