| Had the same problem gazillions of years ago o my FZR600, and it was basically coz I was carrying pillion a lot and the suspension was too soft...not sure that would be the case with a 999 though ?!!!
Yes I believe the 'R's had a different fairing after hodgson complained about the fairing grounding out, this the changes had to be made to the road bike for homolgation reasons I guess...
