The earlier SS and Monster forks are a doddle to work on, the forks on the latter 620's are a bit harder to get apart but still a bit easier than the Showas on 748/916's etc.

The later 620s and 748/9*6 use a 43mm stanchion where as the early 600's use a 40mm as such the earlier bikes run a spring with a smaller outside diameter. On my 600SS my 916 Ohlins springs wouldn't fit so I used Ohlins springs meant for a VTR1000 Firestorm which funs 41mm fork legs.
These were rated at 0.85kg/mm bradderrs you may need a bit more say 0.9kg/mm.
