| It could be just the selector claw needs setting up, you can do that without striping the motor.
Ducati boxes are quite robust I would be surprised if you have damaged a gear.
How much do you trust the guy doing the quote & is he a Ducati man? you don't need many special tools to strip a Ducati engine & you may not even have to strip it to repair the box. |
