I went from a 999S to a 749R , no noticable difference in performance other than at the very top end but the smaller engine revs much higher and smoother , lots more fun and involving to ride
, and mine is an 04 so has ALL the R extras.
As someone else said , you will get an 04 R for the same price as a new S , and regardless of power figures / engine stroke similarities etc and R is an R , less of them , more desirable , do you really need to think about it ?
