The 2 sensors on your bike are identical and can be swapped for testing etc.
With your front one knackered, it won't alter anything and you can still ride it - but the "LO" flashing sign on the dash will be permanent.
New ones are about £50, but I love that little link to a Fiat one for £8.50. At that price you can't go wrong.

While we're at it, the common fault that stops the fan is the relay. It's under the seat, easy to get at and costs about two quid (even from a Ducati dealer).
