Ducati are indeed quoting crank BHP for 2005. As mentioned, this bring them in line with the "big 4".

The magazine articles are for intents and purposes "comparisons". They can't be judged as anything else really.
Every dyno will read slightly different. Every operator has different ways of testing. Even different weather conditions can affect the readings.
There are also different standards by which to measure power. Switching between these can lose/gain 8% or so.
Without the articles stating which standard they are measuring to, whether the readings are corrected for weather conditions and whether they are measuring crank/sprocket/wheel BHP, then all they'll ever be will be a guide to the differences between the test machines on that day.
