Mood: need a bike...
If the seller fitted a purple pro-bolt kit and put some wheel stripes on then I might consider a bid...

You know, there's a lesson for us all in how to restore bikes.

I was doing a bit of research into 926 motors (one of the options I'm considering) and came across this

http://speedzilla.com/forums/showthr...4&page=1&pp=10

The bike appears to be an SP of some sort judging by the ally subframe and Ohlins, that somebody has turned into a hideous yellow thing.

The new owner sets about restoring it and (apart from leaving the frame yellow) seems to be doing a nice job. There's a shot of him on the bike where he's done a pretty good job (a few too many stickers for my taste, and what's with the stripes on the wheels and edges of brake discs - but each to their own).

Then it all starts to go a bit Pete Tong. Some nasty gold pre-load adjusters appear on the bike and then a set of gold Marchesini 10 spokes (oh dear) some blue Fren Tubo lines and Samco hoses (nothing wrong with that in itself but a bit too much going on with the red bodywork and yellow frame)...and the sticker count just keeps going up.

If only he'd known when to stop. Not knocking the guy, he's only done what we all want to do and make our bikes personal - and I'm not a purist, I'll put modern stuff on my T8, but I'm of the 'understated is best' school of thought.
