What's the best paddock stand for a 749? I've already got a Motrax front and rear paddock stand which I used on my K2 GSXR 600, however I tried this last night on my 749 and it didn't feel that safe. I want one that actually goes through the rear wheel spacer (bolt from one side to the other). Any suggestions?
The only problem with supporting the bike as suggested is you cannot remove the rear wheel , if your bike has a cast swingarm (from your avatar it looks like it does) the best stand for you is the proper DP stand with rubber cups which match the underside profile of the swingarm.
The bad news is I sold one last week at a bargain price , never mind , I'm sure your local dealer will get you one , I think they are about £120
If you dont want to remove the rear wheel then you can use a rear stand for a 9** with a single sided swing arm. You may be able to pick one of hose up cheaper?
Just slip it straight into the axle and whip it up single handed. Very, very sturdy ~ you can lube, clean the bike, adjust the chain etc, but as said, thats about it i.e. not much good if you want to get the wheel off!
for removing the wheel yellowisfriedegg is right. i had a budget BMF job but got a Dp stand included when i got my bike and i can vouch it's solid as a rock. the only thing is the sprocket carrier/cush drive (?) rubs on the cup. no damage, just squeaks a lot
Not too fused about the rear wheel coming off as it's more for fairing changes (road to track) that I'm worried about, plus lubbing chain and cleaning. I have a Matrox stand I could use for wheel removal... Does anybody know the right bobbins to buy for the swingarm? A web link would be good. I'm hoping I will be able to change the rubber cups on my Matrox to accommodate the bobbins.
