Funny you should post this, I've been meaning to ask the same question.

I think Nattyboy has got monster rearsets on his 888, so I think monster ones are an alternative.

I've been meaning to ask what other sort of stuff is interchangeable as well - do the old shape SS cans fit for example? What wheels will fit (assuming the different axle diameters are catered for) etc...

I think that what constitutes as a rearset for a Monster will be there or there abouts standard for a 888.Bolt holes should be the same as the early Monsters and you may get a bit of adjustment,....but that,I think is about that.

At the risk of losing the original question, according to Bike magazine:-Air Filter 92-98 900SS,851/888 same as Porsche 924,Audi100,Audi200 Mk11 Polo, and old Jaguars.Oil pressure switch same as Vauxhall Agila.Starter solenoid same as old Mini.Monster headlight only available as complete unit but same as Bosch unit for BMW R100S,glass and reflector available seperately

Position of the footpeg isnt bad,its the great big rubber pegs that are a pain, restrict movement of your foot and allow no feedback.

I use the SP5 type which keep the original position but have the solid peg. A good comprimise for me.

Later, Father Xmas might bring me a set of CycleCat 888 pegs.
