will it need any extra servicing work if fitted and what extra work would be required to fit, any info welcome

Consider an 853 upgrade?

Depends what year the RS is, and what year yours is as to whether it's bolt directly on, but I doubt they'd fit straight on as the RS is a later engine than the one you have.

You'd also want the HiComp R / SP pistons in there as well and a complete re-map to account for the larger valves / cams

Oh, and you should have the cams dialled in as well.

Give Nelly at Cornerspeed, or Steve at MotoRapido a call and see what they say.

Wotcha,

The main problem will be the injectors wont fit without having the heads machined, the R and RS heads have a step to space the injectors together and the bp or sps ones wont go on (nor will the inlet rubbers)

The other point is that although the 748RS cams are mega, but they are VERY hard on valves/collets/rockers and belts.

The RS cams make much more power but only at high revs , 8k+, this feels great to ride but will make you want to keep the revs hanging on in each gear and you will find the rev limiter feels lower! this is not a good idea on the standard conrods and crank.

your service bill WILL go up. RS cams and valves are designed to be replaced every 700 - 1000 kilometers.

The best option is without doubt an 853 kit with hi compression pistons, SP cams (if you can find some) and an adjustable chip. 916 power and 748 pick up and revs.

good luck.
