1200 Ducati

Any one know how Ducati propose to get the 999 to 1200cc , and if it can be done to the 998 with new pistons/crank , or has it been done already , i heard a bout a 1052 or something Ducati is it poss on the 998 range to go bigger than std


Just think a 998R with 1200cc

I think it's the bore of the 999R motor with the stroke of the 999 motor gets you 1200ish - a parts bin special in other words. I guess it would work with the 998, but fuelling would need setting up properly etc.

Easy for the factory to sort, not so easy/cheap for Joe Bloggs...

Easy /cheap are words that dont go with Ducati's , but its possible but then anything is poss with enough money

Just done my maths, and using the bore of the 999R and the stroke of the 999 would give 1080cc. Not sure where they'll find the extra 120cc - maybe an even bigger bore than the 999R?

maybe the stroke frm a 996 or 748/9...........i know jhp has done this all ready!

Nice short stroke / big bore motor - higher revving as well no doubt, yet more hammer for those O's and C's. Couple of old submarine batteries to crank her over - and forget all about bump starts
What's the current max limit on valve sizes then - that's where the power sap will be if they retain the same bore...

contact chris at cjsperformance as i beleive hes taken a testastretta engine out to 1100+ already, rather quick engine i beleive

ST3 or 1000DS crank has 71.5mm stroke I think, with 999 bores of 104mm gives 1215cc.
