Cheers Tim
If all it is is a respray(all be it £160)
Do you think that that was a good price or should I walk away.
They would not be going on untill next year and I don't have loads of spare cash!!!!!

Oh and let me inroduce myself.......I've just acquired my first Duc in over 10 years, just dopped Aprilia coz I could not get on with it, had a ride on a mates 748 but just not quite the power so I bought me a 996 and have not had so much fun in a long time.

Back to the wheels...............cheers for all the advice, still got 5 days.

I reckon you can get some mint ones for £700 or so - (they are £1100ish new), so as long as they are not bent or chipped or deeply scratched etc, ie they'll be perfect condition if they are painted, you should be fine. If they are damaged you could be in for a bigger bill to fix.

Don't forget to take some sort of spindle, bar-type thing that you can spin the wheel up with and ensure that its not bent.

I've had a few different wheels for my 996 -3 sets of Mag Marchesinis, 1 set of Marvics, 1 set of Dymags, 1 set of OZs, etc..... The ones I really wanted were the 10 spoke Marchesinis, but who knows!!!

Good luck and welcome to the site.
Tim

When I bought the bike it had the 10 spokes already on it but I didn't have all the cash to buy the bike so me mate lent me the money and he took the wheels, should be getting them back when he sells the bike soon.

Cheers for all the advise.
Picked them up last Friday, it was only the paint that was chipped, no scratches or owt on the wheel itself
Been quoted £150 to have them repainted.

Sounds great.

Were the 10 spokes cast or forged?

The 10 spokes may be lighter than the magnesium 5 spokes - I'd get them back toot sweet!!

Well they have 'FA' stamped on them so I'm guessing that they are forged, but then I'm no expert

After.....

Some may not agree with the colour but there you go.
A good job and the price was right, they were checked out and there was no damage so I think I got a bargain there.
Thanx to everyone for all the advise

Dave

Nice, and a bargain too.

I've just bought a mint pair of mags for £750, and the cheapest Alloy ones at the moment are around £600 so all in you got a steal

Yep, a steal, and you 9xx boys are so lucky as there seem to be all sorts of good wheel deals about. I have a front mag, now I have to hunt a rear for my 888, hens teeth!!
