How many miles once the yellow fuel light is on?

Coming back up the M1 this morning on the 749r and the fuel light came on.

Do I dive in to the services in 8 miles and pay silly motorway prices or push on to my local petrol station in 28 mile and pay not so silly prices.

Bottle went and I filled up at the services.

OK, I know riding styles, speed etc will come in to it, but, roughly how many miles should you expect to get on reserve ?

I've never pushed more than 15mile with it on. Someone must have pushed it to the limit and had to phone a friend. Come on own up and let us know how far you got.

Tricky.

My 749r does between 140 - 150 mile before the light comes on and I have 'risked' 20 miles until filling up and it took nearly £17 to fill it.

I've ridden my '05 999 after yellow until it conked out after only about 10 miles.

Maybe be the way I ride (rpm probably average 7k when out of town) or the fuel/emissions in California but I rarely get more than 100 miles on a full tank, on either my 999 or my 996.

So as soon as that light comes on I'm looking for the very next petrol station.

Ooh yeah,....light comes on around 80 miles, depending on throttle abuse ,....then start looking for a petrol station.Got about 10 miles before it ran dry.

Got 105 miles to yellow and when I filled up at 115miles it took 12.9 litres though that was only my 2nd tank full and I am still running it in. 999 bip in red as that will obviously make a difference

Get an ST! 170 miles before the yellow and then another 30, still only £15 to refill.

wow ... after reading the answers I'm glad I filled up at the services and did not push it 28 miles to the locao S/market.

Think next time the light comes on I will fill up ASAP.
