Brake fade is a pad/disc problem.
I've always used Ferodo Platinum pads and they are superb on road and track. Cast iron floaters also make a difference, £120 off ebay if you wait long enough.

i nearly went for a radial m/c, but then i had to have the matching clutch m/c and they're dear as poison! looked like a bitch to fit, with the res, pressure switch etc. i fit 996 goldline brake and clutch m/cyl's for the price of a brake radial and they bolted straight on. great brakes too (got 32/36 brembo billet calipers).

For Brembo master cylinders and caliper rebuild kits.
Who are the UK importers for these?

Douglas

Grand Prix Racewear (at Silverstone).

Ask for Steve Tuckey or James Walters.

Jools I maybe able to sort you out a Aprilia RSV Brake mastercylinder and possibly a matching clutch one, They are essentially the same as the Brembo units on a 998R but are in black and not gold.

No problems mate, I'm just sorry that me jumping in there perhaps cost you more than you needed to pay

I was after the matching master cylinders for the 888 and I was going to put the clutch slave on my ST, cos the ST clutch master was too puny for the STM slave I had fitted so I was going back to the updated OEM Ducati slave. So, that particular auction would've given me everything I needed to sort two bikes out.

Never mind...I got a new clutch slave cylinder and pushrod off eBay the next day so the ST is sorted, that means that I will have a bike to ride through the winter and the 888 has already been put into hibernation.

I know that the 996/998 master cylinders will do the job, but they seem to be quite difficult to get secondhand. I think I will save my pennies over the winter and get the bling Brembo radial pump as Rob and Nat suggest. Red Racing parts seem to be the cheapest so I'll get the brake side done first...I'll get the clutch done to match at some point, but I'm not too fussed about having non-matching levers for a short while..

I think Mrs Jools summed it up 'cos she said that with the ST I seemed to have a never ending wishlist of bits I wanted. She thought that once I got the 888 I would have everything I'd wished for, but she said the other day that she just realised that instead of having my wishes fulfilled I'd now just got two never ending wishlists to try and feed...I think she might be right

Jools
I've got a pair of master cylinders which I took off my ST4S - same as the 998/996 ones but in black.
Drop me a line if they are of use to you....I mean, you've got half my old bike anyway!

Skids, Rushjob...

Thanks for the offers guys...As usual I'm a bit skint for cash, I was only bidding on eBay because I can indulge my habit of reckless and irresponsible use of a credit card

But...the original masters on the 888 are black so.....Hmmmmmm
