Question No Spark!!

Hi all, I'm Mal and completely new to Ducatis! I have bought an accident damaged 748S (purely cosmetic!) and its well on the way back to health. I have a problem that I hope someone can help with? The bike had no alarm key fob and so I have removed the datatool 3 without altering the wiring (I cut the datatool wire grafts away from the wiring loom where each wire was attached to the loom and re-joined the only completely cut wire at the solenoid. There are two exposed brown and white colured wires on the left side underneath the seat that normally lead to a clip that appears to loop the two wires, unfortunately this clip is missing). Problem is...the bike seemed to prime the fuel pump (wirring and clicking) and will happily turn over but will not fire up. I have checked the spark plugs and there is no spark. Has anyone any idea how to rectify this problem?

Thanks in advance...
