Petrol cap locked with no key! HELP!

I've managed to source a petrol tank with the cap in the locked position, and no key!

Any ideas how I can sort this out and keep the same cap? I'm not bothered if it locks, as long as it can open and close properly.

If my best option is to go for an aftermarket cap, how can I get this one off?

Take the tank to a laser key place !
they can Xray the lock and make you a key ! simple

or you can drill out the tumblers !!!!!!!

but dont do it with out !

on second thoughts

no dont do it at all !!

Its difficult enough to come by 749/999 tanks, I had to take this opportunity when it arose.

I haven't heard of this laser key business, are the gonna be in the yellow pages?

I've got a good mind to go and get me drill and make some big holes!!

Is it like this one? Can't you just remove the five bolts around it and take it off? It'll be easier to take to a locksmith then at least.

Nope, its not like that one. Its a standard 749/999 cap. If I could get it open, I could get access to the bolts and take it off, which would make life easier. But its locked!

remove pump, reach up inside with a phillips screw driver and undo the two small screws on the bottom of the tank cap, this will allow the catch system to come away from the rest of the cap allowing you to open the top part. Keep a eye open for the odd spring etc.

Skids,

Does that work with the 748/9** tanks as I know another DSC member with the same problem after he bought a trackday tank but the key hasn't materialised ....

Cheers ...
