I believe the FE was the final SL (at least that what the ducati literature says).

well, so far, i've located 105 of the 800 FE's in the world.

there are 11 FE's that I know of in the UK

Ive had a MK 4 yellow SL for about 9 months lovely bike sounds the DBs with a set of Remus cans.

Great bikes.
I've had three along the way.
I found the best one to be the MK1 with the polished ally marvic wheels.
It had been tuned to quite a high level by baines before I aquired it. Also had dual oil coolers and other nice goodies on it, sounded really awsome, you could feel the ground vibrate beneath it.

Mine is a 96 MK IV in Bootiful RED Number 730.

I'm another idiot with an FE, and they are definitely superlights !
Mine is #229 with the 'standard' silmotos, which noise-tested louder than the termi's on my black beast.
I've just decided to sell the FE (have loads of bikes) and am having second thoughts already after a nice ride to scrub in the new rear tyre !

FE's may be SuperLights or may not be..
Eitherway....I think the FE's are special enough to be in their own grouping...and will be more and more special as time goes on...just like the SuperLights...
I own FE #423...
