New Duke - Help

Hi, in the process of buying a new duke...

Had a 748bip 4 years back. Thought it's about time I sort my life out and buy another.

Looking to get a replacement alarm install and fitted & also a service / belts changed.

I would have taken it to TecMoto back in the day, but I hear they went down the pan?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks

Ash

Hi Ashley,

Where abouts are you?
Local to Essex I assume.

Colin.

Hey buddy! Long time no speak! Wow, must be at least 3 years+ by my watch. I did wonder whether you were still kicking around on here

I am technically still in Chelmsford, well only on the odd weekend per month. However, I still consider it to be my home base. I live & work in Jersey these days - the life of a contractor - lol. Mr Whittock from TAM is also over here too.

Anyway, as in previous post, picking up a duke on Fri...gutted I sold my last. The up-coming new duke needs belts, a service and a new alarm system.

Need some advice on that.

Ash

Brill, hope to see you around Chelmsford on your new steed.

There's always Parkinson's in Colchester if you don't want to travel too far.

Longer than that - it was about 6 years ago I left TAM!

For servicing, I had the first inspection/service done at Parkinsons at Colchester on the Hypermotard to keep it in warranty, but I'm now doing it myself on both the 748 and the Hyper.

Mitch has moved on from TecMoto and is now working at Ford R&D. Not many specialists local to us, so you'll either be looking at Parkinsons or going further afield.

As I'm sure Colin will tell you, we still do the pub night on the 3rd Monday of every month, but we're now at the Angel on Broomfield Road - would be good to see you and catch up if you can make one!

Ok thanks for the heads up with Parkinsons. As I'm rarely in the neighborhood, I'll try and pencil something in for this weekend if they have any availability.

Ant - I have to buy a replacement alarm...as the one the bike comes with has been removed (broken). Any recommendations on what one will be best suited? Spyball, Datatool (make, model & cost)? I'm completely out of touch these days, don't want to buy the wrong thing at Parkinsons.

Thanks for the heads up on the 3rd Monday thing. I can remember my last meet and greet used to be in the Army & Navy, but I guess they've demolished that by now. I'll try and make an appearance, but it won't be till after April sometime.

If the bike is going to be there, or could be got there, call Baines Racing. Although they're based at Silverstone, John Baines has moved to Normandy and is already servicing Ducs from the Channel Islands - he picks up from the channel ports.

Baines probably need no introduction but I or others on here could tell you more. John is as good as it gets. See:
