749 Sprockets

Hi all, Ive got a 749 and ive put put +2 on the rear sprocket but was considering a 14T on the front also. Is there any disadvantages to doing this? I really like the slightly increased turn in gained from bringing the rear closer, will this be effected by a smaller front sprocket??

Cheers!

Send Shazaam a U2U, he knows best.

He posted a link with all recommended sprocket sizes so you may be able to search that one out and dust it off, it was very informative.

Hi,

99% sure that you will find you already have a front 14t sprocket fitted as standard. It tends to be the 996/8/9 bikes that have a 15t front sprocket and benefit from dropping to a 14t sprocket. Would not advise going lower than 14t on the front as this is too small a diameter to wrap the chain around.

I would suggest that if you'd like a like more "pull" go up another tooth or 2 on the rear. I would go for a 42t rear which should be 3 up on standard.

kool, might give that a try, might have to get a longer chain though (bit like yours Jon)
Ill give that thread a search, just wanted to know any feedback on people who may have already done it.
