noise concern

Hi guys. Ive just booked a trackday at Oulton Park in May and realised there is a noise limit of 105db. Ive got 54mm termis on, bikes set up for those cans and I cant be mithered changing etc.

Question. Will the bike get through the noise test and what happens on the day they test?. The only trackdays Ive ever done have been noisy ones, so Im not aware of the procedure. Thanks Ian

105 is a noisy day.

You should be ok as mine never had an issue there, but they are strict and if your cans are old and badly packed then it may be close.

if you can get it checked before hand it would give you peace of mind.

I have the same pipes on my 996, with old silencers, and it still passed at Brands on a 105dB day. They said it was 103dB but I think they were being kind though...

Sorry to carry on from someone else's post, but i'm about to do my first track day on Thursday down at Brands. The circuit have quoted a 98db limit, I have a 748 with 50mm Termi's. Will I be close to this limit or should I re-pack? Failing that should I even take my std exhausts just in case? I realise the condition of the exhaust packing will have a great effect on the db's produced, but can anyone give me a approx db level for a bike such as mine? :-)

My 996 with 50mm Termis tested at 100db at Oulton Park last year

You are going to struggle to get 98db or below with termis on a 748.

Every 3 db is either double or half the noise, depending whether or not you are getting louder or quieter.

I'd play safe and fit the standard cans if it was me. It's should be the hassle free option.
