thats what I always thought Nick.
I went there in 98 as pitcrew for a friend and didn't like the look of Hall Bends and the Old Hairpin so much so that I decided there and then not to race there.
But now with the modifications it looks a lot safer so i'll give it a go.

Actualy the Woodland section is a great little circuit, It is also makes a level playingfield for the different spec of bike, raced it on a 400, all action, hardley a moment to rest as there is no real straight. A mate of mine led a F600 race on a 70bhp ZXR400 for 7 laps in the damp, only to get pipped for the win on the last lap.

I think the Woodlands circuit will be great fun. Very close racing I suspect and for the first round with so many novices it'll be a hoot - it will certainly favour the brave. Anyone with race experience will have a big advantage here. Power will only be good for the start/stop straight, but you'll need good brakes for the hairpin. The first corner away from the lights will be brilliant and for the first corner of your racing career, a superb one. It will almost certainly sort out who's going to win - the first few into this corner will have a massive advantage as it's so slow and it's almost single file for the next section unless you're brave, so the gap between the leaders and the backmarkers will be huge by the time you're through, with little chance of catching up as you're all on the same bikes(!?!). I know where I'm going to watch from for sure.

Overtaking points a plenty - biggest one will be on the brakes underneath people into the hairpin at the end of the straight. Then if someone has gone in too quickly and overshot the line, there will be a slim chance of taking them on the power on the way out into the left of the Mountain - I can see people three abreast here. Over the Mountain on the power if the bike next to you backs off if he doesn't like his front wheel in the air. Into the righthander at Hall bends, but you have to be brave and take someones line away from them, then if you're given any light going onto the hairpin, if not take it anyway and block pass, then another block pass into Barn, then it's possible, (just) to catch someone by the line if you're a lot earlier on the gas than they are coming out of Barn. There will be a lot of fairing bashing me thinks. Practice riding with your elbows out Very exciting, wish I could come and play.

John, I think you're spot on! Definitely worth watching! Mind, I had my virgin race there last year, albeit the full circuit. My advice is if you've never done Cadwell, do at least one track day before your first race!

It's a shame, though, that park straight isn't part of it. It would have quickly shown which type of bike was the fastest package.

Can we reserve watching places at the bottom of the mountain then

Is anyone going to be doing a video diary of the races at all?

As I understand it the hairpin at the end of the straight is just by the entry to Coppice not the earlier one so you will be coming into the run to the mountain basically at the new chicane-which gives another overtaking opportunity by outdragging someone out of the hairpin it's going to be loads of fun boys...............
