2009 race calendar miles

I have just worked out using google maps that I will have to drive 3700 miles this year to travel to and from all the races thats about £1000 in diesel! the worst news for me is the race in Anglesey 5½ hours from Brands Hatch, which is where I live, oh and were not racing there I am new to racing and this year is to be my first, I am really looking forward to it, but I was really looking forward to Brands, Just round the corner from home and my favourite circuit as well.

Be glad we're not doing Assen then, that was 1000 miles for me just on it's own, plus the ferry of course!
I'm sure we'd all love to be doing Brands too, shame it's not on the calender!

Yeah we cancelled Brands this year cos we didn't want any locals cleaning up!

Travel is one of my biggest expenses too, proably works out about £700 in van fuel last year.

I would be willing to team up, I have a van but not a big one, Can fit two bikes and a bit of kit, extra people is the problem, unless they can hitch a ride with someone else as well, it would be a good idea on some of the further ones, Have fun, Matt

Try asking someone with a business if they will let you buy the fuel thro them so saving the VAT, a kind of sponsorhip ?

Hmmmm, that works out at about 17 MPG

I'd be looking for the hole in the bottom of the fuel tank or putting some money into a locking fuel cap.

Ray.

Even my 1990 six Cylinder Turbo Diesel VW does more than that, not a lot more but granted, but it does manage to creep above 20mpg if I keep the speed down.

Since 1998 I have been traveling on average 2500 miles a year for club racing, without counting taking the bikes to the TT or to Assen.
So with 11 years of doing that I don't even want to add up my total fuel bill from racing.

whatever it is, it pales into insignificance compared to the joy you've had

and that has to be the way to look at it
