Unhappy Starting problem

Typical, the sun is out and the bike won't start!

Has anyone come across the following problem? I press the starter button to turn the engine over but the engine won't start and the starter motor keeps on churning over even though I've let go of the button. The only way to stop the starter is to flick kill switch or turn the ignition off at the key.

Its been running fine since I fitted a new rectifier last month and the battery is new too.

Any ideas or thoughts on what it could be would be most welcome.

Cheers
Steve
