The next bit is a bit fuzzy as i did it a while ago, but it think the desktop assigns the printer an IP address and then the laptop just hunts it out on the network and bobs your aunty.

Or buy one of these:
http://www.linksys-sales.co.uk/acatalog/WPS54G.html

It's like a wireless card for a printer - set it up on your network and you don't need to dedicate a PC to the printer as anything on the network can use it.

The only problem i (potentially) have,is Linksys customer services are in Asia somewhere.I find that call centers located in Asia, although technically knowledgeable and helpful,i struggle to understand the accents sometimes, which makes sorting a problem even harder.

This is in NO WAY meant to be a racist statement(thought i'd better say that!!),just an observation!!

The product may be that good,i don't need hep!!Although,i can always ring you,Ant,eh???

Actually, Linksys in the UK is all handled by ISO-Micro, the site that is Linksys-Sales.co.uk

These are the official Linksys support people in the UK, so any problem or query you would have gets opened as a ticket with Linksys then passed on to ISO Micro.

So you would be speaking to someone in the UK, although they are located in Lowestoft, Suffolk, so they do have a funny accent

I think that takes you through to Linksys worldwide support.
They can do over-the-phone support to try and get you working, but if it turns out to be a real fault then the UK guys take over.

Hi Antonye, I'm not entirely down with the tech speak, but i can use my printer wirelessly with the laptop when the PC is off so i don't think it's dedicated? Or are you referring to being able to use a USB connection to the printer?

Never had any problem with a lot of Belkin wireless devices, wouldn't go back to D-link or linksys...

I can vouch for the Belkin router as I'm using it right now and it used to belong to Tonio (thanx again mate)

Hello

Belkin here too,

tec support is free athough you do get through to India call centre.

The trick is listen to them turning the pages of advice, then tell them nothing is working and your call is logged and somebody in the uk will phone you back. . .

I have found the belkin router works better with a belkin wireless card.
