Changed to 208gpa\'s

Well i changed from the std Michelin Pilot race2 to Dunlop 208gpA's on the 999r yesterday at Donington and what a transformation!

I have lost the front end vague feeling i felt came from the michelins. So much more confidence inspiring.

Plus they were £70 fitted for a slightly used pair. fantastic, i know what ill be doing in the future.

Funny that as I swear by 208Gp's but ever since I've had the R the front has always been vague, went for a ride last night and it was so depressing as the bike felt unrideable, gonna give K-Tech a call and see what can be done.

Good tyres though, although 209's are out now (if you can get them)

It is a strange one. Obviously im no expert and sometimes its hard to explain your interpretation of what the bikes doing. But, the feeling I got with the Michelins was that the front allways felt as though it was sliding away from me, almost understeering, even if i added no weight to the bars at all.

The difference was noticable straight away as i used the bike virtually back to back. There is now a sense of confidence in the feed back from the front as though it is planted. That said i can see there is a lot more snot appearing on the outside edges of the front tyre. Maybe thats suspension orientated.

The ring on the fork stantion is still going to the same place, around 12mm from the calliper mount top.

I'd love a bimble up the A50, but taking someones 20K bike on a track would scare the **** out of me. The thought of the repair bill if it went into that tyre walll at Barn!!!!!

A couple of thoughts though, have you compared it with another 999r - there was plenty at the Davenport, maybe get in touch with Brian (Tabby999r) or has Bob got a different front tyre on (if the wheel fits) so you could see if the tyre makes a difference.

Steve - Bob's got 209's on now, and the "older models" wheels don't fit the 999

Good idea to check with Tabby though.

Andy - good idea if our paths ever cross

Thanks for offering me your front tyre in my tyre thread mate?
So you would be willing to say they were vague here but not on there.

Me thinks you no care about me no more
