749s cutting out?

749s only 1500 miles, seems to cut out when hot? i.e. when coming to a halt it cuts out, seems to take a few turns on the starter to get it going again. It runs fine other than that. Any Clues? Ideas? greatly appreciated.

Cutting Out

Have had the same problem with my 749s and an EOBD light appearing for the secong time......It's currently in the garage geting repaired. I have been informed one of my plug caps(I think thats what he said) has collapsed and let water in one of the cylinders, not covered by warranty apparently.......... possible my over washing has caused this, even though it's never seen a pressure washer ! Will ask why it keeps cutting out give you the answer soon hopefully

Stick it on a paddock stand, and put it in gear, pull the clutch in and see if you can stop the rear wheel from turning.
Had the same problem with mine, when I adjusted the clutch lever in, turned out to be air in the clutch fluid.
Worked for me, hasn't stalled at a junction since.

Seems like the same problem!
the engine management light has been flickering? Dealer reckoned it was a dirty electrical connection on the clutch lever switch. not sure this has been cured yet, time will tell.
I'm sure the new plug caps have the coil built into them?? can anyone confirm this?? this bike hasn't seen a pressure washer either but has been ridden in the rain that we have experienced recently.
Maybe this is the problem, front cylinder plugcap/coil getting wet.
Let me know what the outcome of your dealer dealings are!
cheers

Hello 749sime, I'm fairly new as well. Strange world out here isn't it?

I've only ridden my 749S twice so far and it's cut out three times. It was very cold the first time out, and I was riding in the rain second time so maybe it doesn't like being wet.

I'm hoping it will grow out of it, or maybe get sorted on the first service.

Glad I'm not the only one!

Mood: anticipation
Had my 749s for a year now first tip take off front plug cap and replace sealing it with clear silicon sealer that stops the water entry problem.
2: Check the little pin and little spring lever under the clutch lever unless this is connecting properly and depressing the pin it will cut out.

3: My clutch system needs bleeding occasionally especially in hot weather, they just seem to get air in the system.

Once all these are done you should be ok
I havn't had a bit of trouble with mine. The amber EOBD some times lights up when left idling for a time but soon disappears when you ride off possilble charging phenomenon but dosn't cause any problems.

Just ride em hard

Good luck Seb

No experience of this myself, but if you go to www.clubdesmo.com and check out their bulletin board, there are 2 recent threads dealing with this problem. Maybe some answers there? (It seems like a common problem, alas)
