Paddock stands

The paddock stands I have might as well be made out of chocolate.

Had a look at Harris and they seem alright.

I don't seem to be able to find if a 600ss has some where to stick the cotton reel things though. Won't be able to look at bike as it's stuck in the garage for a while.

Any one know off the top of their heads if the cotton reels fit or do I need to get another with the L shaped bracket instead?

You will have to buy a set of bobbiins and drill and tap the rearmost section of the swingarm (just forward of the adjuster screw). This is all dependent on you having a alloy swingarm. On the steel type I have no specific advice. Though I cant see it being much , if any , different.

As Mike said plus,
I did Louise's steel swing arm by drilling through the side wall, remove the chain adjuster and fasten the bobbin with a nut and bolt.

For the steel arm I made inserts the same width as the inside of the swingarm out of 16mm diameter alloy bar, drilled and tapped 8mm right the way through
then drilled both sides of the swingarm so that I could use a domed head bolt on the inside of the arm to secure the insert and then bolted on a 8mm paddock stand bobbin from the outside.
Might seem like over kill to Neil's method, but I thought I'd do the job properly
If its a Alloy arm the photo I put up years ago are anout on the site one of which is here

I did this job last year - as per the link. I'd never drilled or tapped anything before either and it's a lot easier than you think and worth the effort. Bobbins / cotton reels are so much more secure with your paddock stand - btw the Harris ones are spot on. My only advice is to measure twice and drill once. Good luck.

Just get yourself a length of 4 by 2 and a handful of screws ;-)

paddock stand

I have a spare rear Harris stand, immaculate condition £50 if anybody wants one. Can post or bring to Oulton.
