First Assen Report

Just got off the phone from AntonyE after the first session of the Track Day. It's very hot weather over there about 25 Deg he thinks.
He said the new track is just 'mental' and the new hairpin is eating bikes all over the place.

Guess who had an 'off' on the 1st lap ?.............

TP of course ! He's OK though thanks goodness. Chain snapped apparently, damaged the cases and they are trying to fix it.

About 5 bikes went down in the first session, mostly in the hairpin gravel trap.

The DB killers are making the bikes run rough, and he thinks most people will run without in the second session.

Atmosphere is great, and the paddock fantastic. The surface is all concrete block paving, so Eric has been round with his hammer drill and securing tents down for people.
Antony says he's screwed most of the paddock before lunchtime !!!!!!!!!!!!

Assen paddock

Lets hope Eric has got his credit card with him, last time I was there (2001) they had chaps coming round checking for nailed down tents!!!! With big fines if they found any!!

As long as he keeps away from the local "facilities" and he doesn't screw anything else........itchy bits during a race wouldn't be nice!!

Been talking to TP. He got into the gravel trap on some corner and when trying to get out the chain snapped. This holed the cases and then the oil cooler sprang a leak. He didn't fall of or anything like that and the bike has now been fixed. He seemed pretty confident and was hoping for front row qualifier.

All power to him - I wanna see some bits off my bikes win a race!

Text from TP saying that leaking oil burst into flames and required a Marshall to extinguish his leg!

Interesting times at Assen.

Just got a message from TP - he's not had a happy day, but has qualified 14th (i think) and will be out to improve his weekend tomorrow.

Other info - On pole is Dom, Ali 2nd, Andy J 3rd, Kyle 4th.

Fil2 is 6th on the grid and first 583 - great work.

Reports say that the track is awesome and that there may be an invite back next year!!
