2001 Ducati 750 Sport

Hi, I have just bought my first Ducati and have therefore joined the forum for some invaluable advice!

Unfortunately, the bike does not appear to have been registered in the UK and I have therefore have little or no information on the bike, other than the frame and engine numbers, obviously.

To avoid having to register the bike in the UK I am trying to source a UK-registered frame, can anyone help?

Thanks

Ian

P.S. I have tried to add an image to this post - hopefully it has worked!

Hi and welcome Ian.

Any particular reason why you dont want to go through UK registration?

There are a few breakers that use Ebay so that might be the biggest market place to search.

Well done - your image worked fine too - clean looking bike.

Cheers - Frank

I'm worried if it has been imported illegally and if import duty has therefore not paid then I would be liable. I won't know this until I complete a V62 form, at which point the DVLA will then have my details!

You’ll have to pay VAT if your vehicle is classed as a ‘new means of transport’ - ie it’s less than 6 months old and has done less than 6,000km (about 3,728 miles). HMRC will tell you if this is the case.

It sounds like you shouldn't have to pay anything other than registration fees as it's a second-hand vehicle and imported from the EU.

There are some serious penalties for driving non-UK vehicles on UK licences as it is against the law with very few exemptions, mainly to do with going to pre-arranged tests!

It sounds like you'll get away with just registering it for use in this country with no VAT to pay. You shouldn't have any issue with Certificates of Conformity (CoC) as this model was sold in the UK and you can always get Ducati/Ducati UK to give you copies of the correct certificates if required anyway.

Hope this helps!
