Input on Carbon fiber

Hiya guys. I was just curious on what you guys have found to be real nice carbon fiber. I dont want the cheap flimsy stuff like from Lockhart Phillips, but real nice quality stuff.

I had a few pieces of benferperformance.com on my last Duc, and i just bought a 999 last week.

Any suggestions?

My Avatar and small pic below was my 749 which was in full carbon with clear gell coat. Looked awesome and did not need paint to finish it off. Every panel, guard, tank etc etc is carbon fibre, no glass fibre packing used at all and every piece is finished with a layer of carbon / kevlar for added strength and stabillity.

And yes they do have a USA distributor :

Most of mine is Ducati Performance which is lovely. I've got a couple of bits by MAD composites which has a very similar look to the Ducati stuff.

I also got a front mudguard from Skidmarx which apparently comes from a place in Essex that make all the stuff for Casoli. That's nice too.

The only crappy bit i've ever had was a 999 keyguard from Flea Bay which I just threw straight in the bin.

Be careful when buying on E Bay etc there has been a lot of GRP with a carbon look topskin around for a while sold under many guises, I found out the hard way.
Sandbar Composites are very good quality and are sourced from the same manufacturer that makes OEM material for Ducati, BMW etc.
The fit is also much better than with other suppliers.

Signs of GRP are the following; white looking edges, blackpaint and a fine weave on the underside.
Most proffessional mfrs will have batch and ID numbers incorporated in the product.
When paying several hundred pound its always better to have a good look before buying

Majority of QB carbon items have a Kevlar / Carbon Hybrid layer on the inside, even when it's not visable when fitted. Add's to the strength and look of the products.

As others have said, look out for items that come painted or have a black paint finish on the inside.
