999 mono subframe failure

subframe fractured and broken on a run on sunday. completely sheered behind seat .the bit that holds on exhaust , lights etc. in discussions with
ducati at present as bike is 3 months out of warranty.anyone else encountered this leathal fault .

It's a somewhat "common" thing.

remember that english sale of goods act allows you up to 6 years ( 5 years in Scotland i think) to report a defect inherent at time of manufacture. theres enough evidence on this forum and from your local dealer to suggest that a snapped sub frame fits this. It may be 3 months out of the Ducati warranty ( this is in addition to your rights under sale of goods act) but did the crack start prior to the 2 years ? was the bike inspected at its last service for this??

It might be worth a call to DUK to discuss it and see what they can do as a goodwill gesture before seeking further advice.

its a pretty easy job to get it welded anyway.

Blimey! Is this an issue just for monos or has it happened to the BIP too? Only my son goes on the back of mine!

just the monos i think , bi's have a steel subframe.
