I'm just about to order some new tyres for my 998,i was thinking about Diablo corsas,i've never tried them before but i've heard good things about them! I know loads of you guys & girls have tried them, any comments, good or bad would be welcome!! Does anyone have any opinions as to any better tyres available? The bike is used for fast road, with maybe a track day thrown in.I don't do many miles,so i'm not bothered how quick they wear out,i just want excellent grip!! Also,i'll be ordering some tyres for the wifes RVF400,any ideas on tyres for that, same brief regarding wear/grip? The size for the rear on the RVF is 150/50,will this limit choice?
i am a pirelli fan and currently use supercorsa's primarily beacause i do a few trackdays and like the extra confidence i get from them. but have used diablo's and diablo corsa's and loved them. if i did more road work then i would use dialo's if i intended to ride in the wet sometimes or the diablo corsa's if i only intended to to dry weather stuff.
I have to be the fly in the ointment here... sorry.
I don't like supercorsa's just to slow at turning in, and from the one experience I saw of Diablo's, well it was good-bye bayliss rep, after a huge highside, eventually discovered to be a tyre manufacturing fault.
But that's horses for courses, it you wanted excellent grip, for the road then yes, I'd say fine, personally though I swear by 208Gp's now, expensive though.
If you can find Superbike in your local newsagent, there's a very comprehensive tyre test. I think they did it on an R1 and it includes the Diablo and Diablo Corsa.
I've been using Diable Corsas on my 748 all year and rate them very highly. Used mainly for fast road and 1 track day this year, more grip than I can use that's for sure. Sort of used in the wet on a return journey, but took it easy, so I can't vouch for wet weather performance.
Thanks for your comments boys, looks like i can't go too far wrong on Diablo corsas then!! Any feedback on the RVF situation(i got the size wrong,it's a 150/60),i've been talking to some tyre dealers, they're recommending either Dunlop GPR70'S or Bridgestone BT090'S,anybody tried either of these?
