In that case, whats the point in the rule

To try and stop the series getting taken over by racers who see it as a chance to come in scoop up the rewards and then move on without really having any other interest in the DSC or Ducati bikes.
ie not in the spirit of the series. Turning up just for the race meetings on nice new 6-speed 620's all preped by the best guys out there.
But then again if we could get enough for two grids (583 class and 620/675 class) entry requirements could be different for each class.

Not a lot really, they're pretty robust:
Are the wheels true (front can deform on pot-holes)?
Does it have twin discs? (I only use one, but some like two)
Are the forks still stock (we're not allowed nice adjustable Showas!)

Engine-wise they sound awful as the pistons have short skirts ( ) so there's a lot of slapping ( ), but it's not something to worry about. If you want to do the 'bigger' class next year (tbc) then you'll probably want the 674 big bore kit. There will probably be a couple going cheap off this years' bikes.

I still reckon they're the best frame to race if you don't want to change the whole bike setup, but the old ones are let down by the forks. Mine's a 95, and as ropey as a bag of rope strung up in the corner of a rope factory, but she goes ok when you show no mercy....

Cheers,

Ali

i found out about the series when i was going through all my entry forms with new era.
gobsmacked and gutted that i didn't spot it sooner in the year!!!!!!!

raced a jhp sorted 955 for a few races in 2000 but due to costs i had to give it a back seat

i miss that bike and have always wanted it back but the costs and bank manager will never allow me to!!!!!!!

the dd series looks like a cracking way to be back on a duc at a more afford level

'what to look for in the 600SS'.....I'm not in the series, but from what I've seen and heard, what you need to look for in the 600SS is the 620ie beside it and buy it instead

Make sure that you keep a mirror on the 600 as then you can see all bar 3 of the 620's....
