Cutting lower panels

I know this has to be done carefully and slowly with a dremel.....BUT.....

...how or where do you mark to cut, is it a staight line or is it slightly curved.

Cheers

dave

I've done it , BUT i had a pair of remnants of when someone else had done it. It was a case of measure and mark it and cut them carefully as required ( hacksaw blade as opposed to dremell, You can be more carefull by using a blade). I may have the offcuts that you could use as a template. I will check tomorrow. Some say don't do it , but it's your choice. I was happy doing it.

A cheaper alternative without buggering up the OEM panels is to buy cheap fibreglass panels. I have some from Vimori and I have to say that the colour impregnated F/glass looks as good as original. Plus, they are not expensive (about £40 or so a panel).

I cut my panels using a jigsaw with a fine blade in it - you need to cut the bottom out of the panel, close to the corner, all the way round. Then using something like a dremel tool with a mounted point (small grinding wheel) or similar burr, cut the panel back removing the turned under edge, making the panel flat. If you do it carefully the panel will end up with a radiused edge, and when fitted you won't even see any of the white showing.
As in my other post re. fitting a belly pan, the awkward bit is opening up the front return on the panels where they mate with the belly pan, which is designed to fit with the thinner carbon panels.
Hope this helps.
