Quiet days at Donington - testing, testing?

How do they do the noise testing at Donny for the quiet days? Static test at the start of the day or noise meters at trackside - or both?

Tim,

From the ones i've done with various td co's, the circuit regulate the noise and usually the TD company checks exhuasts are standard BS marked or fitted with DB killers. There is a meter on the start/finish straight and you get pulled-in if too noisy. They are very strict and i suggest you check before going as on some days I've been many people have been pulled or not even got out. I have run the 900ss with the standard ali cans and the R1 with the standard exhaust with no problem, but some with DB killers do not get down to 98db.

Knowing my current luck with trackdays my pipe will be too loud with a dB killer in!

Might bring some baffle packing too lol

Been there twice this year once noisy once quiet.

The R6 was not static noise tested at all but was black flagged in the third session for noise.

Static at Oulton it did 97db, at 15000 revs down the start finish straight the marshall said I was aving a larf

So that must mean there is a mike/tester on the start finish straight just where your giving it the berries

I swapped it for the standard can which got me back out but the bike wasnt as crisp but still got the track time to learn the track more for when I go back on a noisy day

yep the one on the start finish gantry is the one that usually gets you, Dallas on his 996SPS got black flagged a couple of times on Saturday and then was barred from doing the evening session even with the dB killers in his 57mmm system. He then got home to find that days post with a letter telling him it was a quiet day in which case he could have taken his road bike if he had known.

Went there at the weekend. They check all the exhausts before you go out just by eye...if it's not a standard can they expect to see a DB killer in there. The noise was measured out on the track and at least a couple were black flagged. My 583 with DB killer in was fine
