I was out with Scotty today and did nearly 300 miles all over the north and the Borders. Anyway, out of Brampton heading towards Alston we came up behind 5 jockeys on big-bore Jap 4's. They all accelerated after turning onto the road and we came up to some nice bends.... I tucked in behind the back rider on a 2003 R1...he looked dead good, the right posture, a bit aggressive...
Anyway, I followed, he hunched down, slid off the seat, stuck his knee out and I accelerated into the bend behind him thinking
game on! Bad idea! What followed was the most bizarre style of cornering I've seen for some time. On went the brake lights, the bike seemed to stop and he threw it right over on its side. I nearly hit him! Fair play to him - I've never seen anyone get knee down at barely above walking pace.
He did this at the next turn too.
I wish I had my bullet cam turned on. Seeing was believing.
In such circumstances I find it's always safer to get past as soon as poss
