996 desmoquattro - lowered exhaust cam housing in head to clear suspension rocker 30 / 36mm valve sizes, same exhaust cam as the bip etc but different inlet cam for more midrange other than that due to the better flow of the exhaust will push out same power as a biposto.

Or actually a bit more-Ducati 'de-tuned' the 996 for the ST4S and ended up with both more power and more torque-nice trick.
The pipes on a 748/916/996/998 are about 2 feet too long for effective scavenging of the exhaust gases.
ST4S is a VERY effective road bike, and not too shabby round a track either-is it Andy.

It cuts a dash on any type of road as I will again demonstrate at the end of this month on one of my pilgrimages back to Blighty. Door to ferry ramp (Dunkerque) is 564mls - that's 9hrs including two fuel stops of approx 15mins (time for a widdle included) using 65% "A" roads and the last "35%" on the froggy toll motorway.

Then I still feel good for the Dover-Derbyshire dash of 215mls as soon as the ramp goes down at Dover (one final fuel stop and widdle required north of London).

My 2001 ST4s is a stonking bike - especially in YELLOW
