Oil light idea

Hello

Need some advice from anybody who knows anything about electrics.
My orignal tachometre packed up, well it worked but gave very erratic readings
so was looking at fitting this SPA unit, but will lose the oil light
as I think I am right in saying this unit does not have one?

So then thought about using my old Datatool LED
as per pic and wire that back into the loom so I could use it as the oil light.

Do you think it is feasible ?

regards

should be an easy solution... don't forget the oil pressure switch switches the earth. Positive feed off a switched live and earth to the switch.

If its a normal LED it will need a 390 ohm resistor in series with it to drop the volts

Although you could use the old charging light as they are usually redundant these days

Hello Skidlids

Can I ask if this makes any sence

If I cut and splice the red/white wire and run that to the oil pressure switch
should that be ok as the light blue wire runs to lighting switch/fuse box etc

Hello Murry Mint

sorry not with you, the unit is 10yrs old, if it revs to 15 I will be laying on the floor with valves in my chest.

Yep that should work Steve providing the blue wire always has +12V on it and not only when the lights are on
