Specialist insurance
I'm close to doing a deal on a 1098R Bayliss, so i've spoken to my present insurer (Carole Nash) about taking off my 998S Bayliss rep & 1098S Tricolore & adding the 1098R to my 916 Foggy rep, as i was swapping two bikes with the combined value close to the 1098R i thought it would be an easy task, how wrong i was!!!!

When i renewed the policy in July last year i was informed by CN that the company i was with no longer did agreed value policies so they would have to swap over to Norwich union, who wanted £200 more than the £1,200 i had paid the previous year.

Now, they want another £500 to put the 1098R on in place of the 998 & 1098 Tricolore, for the 6 months upto renewal in July!!!

I've rung a couple of companies (Bennetts & Ducati insurance) & was told they couldn't cover bikes of that value!!

I've spoken to MCE, they're working on a quote for me, they seemed switched on & interested in helping me. Has anybody had any dealings with them?

I'm not too stressed at having agreed value on the bikes now, so can anybody suggest a company that will cover both bikes at a reasonable cost?

I'm with MCE. Never had to try them for a claim but they seem ok. Found them a bit persistant at renewal time, calling me several times.

Insurance
I have had my policy with Carole Nash for a couple of years. I insured a 749 and MV Agusta F4. This year they said my present insurer would not cover me. Wanted an extra £400 to cover me with another company. Tried MCE and they came up trumps straight away. Now they also insure my new 1098s. Very good guys and very helpful. Worth a try with them, in my mind.

Been to the show at Excel today, gave both CN & Ducati insurance reps a hard time, they both said they would re-view my details & give me their best quotes, won't hold my breath though!!

Got a reasonable quote from MCE though, so they're looking like favourites to get my business!!
