Loud Exhaust Invalidates Insurance

Do you realise that a non approved exhaust will invalidate your insurance. IE if it doesn't pass an MOT then you are not covered by your insurance. Which means if you kill someone or write the bike off then you are up the creek without a paddle.

Unfortunately these days the regulators are around your throat. However if you are a 1 percenter then good luck.

God dam regulators, you can do this, you can’t do that.
Your to noisy, your to quiet.
F**k Off and live something resembling a life.
I am sick to deaf of this crap.
Legislation, Legislation, Legislation, ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Come on bikes can’t be seen right, all my bikes are loud, I am still here.
Any body listening TO THISSSSS.
The last thing an invisible object should be is rely F***ing quiet.
Rebel or let them kill more of us with this.
New bikes make no noise. You are risking your life on these bikes.
YOU ARE NEITHER SEEN NOR HEARD.
Just my own view you understand but better to be alive and nicked than dead?

Rant over.

As far as i recolect the MOT is only valid for the actual second it is signed, once out the garage, the MOT actualy means nothing, and if the bike dont pass the MOT then you cant get insurance anyway!

Shop around with your insurers.

Some will cover you with extras (like termi's etc), but will just not pay out their value if you make a claim for your own vehicle. You'll be paid out an equivalent value for OEM items.

Howeve, this does cover you for 3rd party claims as you have divulged it from the outset of your policy and the inderwriters are already aware of it.

As I say, shop around and some will accept them.

....and they cant invalidate unless the reason for claim is related to the offending item, ie some poor old biddy has bleeding ears after you passed her at full chat with an open 57mm system!

Reason is, they would be able to invalidate ALL policies, as things like stereos, wheels, tyres, air fresheners are not part of original spec and therefore modified.

Access underwriting will cover you with non-standard cans. But they would only be replaced with standard ones - at least you're covered though.

That wouldn't be a bad deal for me 'cos original SuperLight cans cost a kidney and one leg whereas aftermarket ones can be picked up fairly cheaply (Less than 100 quid for my Lasers)...
