im thinking of fitting some wavy disks to my 748 but dont know which company to use

im aware of galfer and braking but would value other peoples opinion on them, especially those that have them fitted to their bikes

price and suppliers would also be good

I would go so far as to say, get a decent set of pads in them first!

And then try the other stuff. Depending on whether you're after visual bling or a bit more braking performance.

I recommend Performance Friction pads in a 95 compound. Absolutely transformed the brakes on my monster (brakes are otherwise standard) - it brakes better than my 996.

Didn't one of the mags (or MCN) do a comparison of Wavy vs non wavy discs a while back with the result being the wavy discs were'nt quite as good for stopping power, but they did help reduce weight (marginally)

IIRC Braking are the superior wavy disc though, closely followed by Galfer. Then all the other pretenders follow on.

I'd agree with TP though, try different pads first. They're a sight cheaper, and the standard brembo discs are quite good anyway.

I had wavey's (braking) on the 998, which have somehow appeared back on said 998 in Lily's hands personally I found them fantastic, couple with the 4 pad calipers and brembo m/c shocking!

I have a set of the Braking Wavey discs and find they offer very good braking performance.
All very well suggesting pads,mastercylinders etc, but if the reason for replacement is worn discs then Waveys will probably work out cheaper than standard New discs.

Also consider the Brembo "Trackday" discs. Cast stainless, lighter than stock and fully floating.
I've fitted a set on mine and am well impressed

They sell for about the £175 mark a disc.

And then you want some Brembo GP Monoblock calipers and the genuine Brembo full GP pads to go with em.

No huge difference between Galfer and Braking Wave rotors. Braking purchases a license agreement to make the wave rotors from Galfer USA who holds the patent on the wave rotors both in Europe and the US. Braking copies the Galfer rotors and uses the same process to make them.

As far as brembo brake pads are concerned the monoblock pads are made by Galfer. You don't have to pay 400.00 a set of them if you don't buy the name brand of brembo....
