Temperature gauge problem

My temprature gauge is very unsteady constantly waving about. When i turn the key the needle jumps up to the correct temprature, but very fast, it should rise slowly. It seems to read okay if it stays still for long enough!

I have replaced the gauge and this seemed to fix it for about a day then it's back to being erratic!

Have spoke to jhp and they say it must be the sender but i have never seen gemanium cristals play up this way before.

The remader of the electrics are fine and i have traced the wiring and that seems fine aswell.

Has any one had the same problem and if so was it the sender?

Hope you can help lads.
