When you change the cpu on 749/999 you have to remove all the battery box and components -all the wiring is very tight so its a bit of a fiddle -also when cpu is unplugged the throttle position sensor has to be reset and thats a dealer only job with diagnostic kit

Quote from workshop manual " When changing the throttle body, and or the throttle position sensor,or the engine control unit,or the section of wiring connecting these parts,it is necessary to carry out a new TPS reset procedure"

ah well , my old 999S , the wifes 749S and my current 749R must not have read the workshop manual then , all 3 have had the CPU off and swapped for a race CPU and swapped back again with no problems
