Filling Coolant

Hi,
I'm having difiiculty refilling the cooling system on my 888. I've put about a litre which has filled the radiator but I cant seem to get it to flow around the system. I presume it wont flow until the thrermostat is open, but that wont open until the coolant has reached a certain temperature. If its not flowing around the engine surely it will never get hot enough to open the thermostat.

Im filing from the top of the rad, should I be filling the overflow bottle too?

If you mean the expansion tank rather than the overflow bottle, then I'd have said yes.

Hi,I did this myself yesterday. There's a bleed screw on the top hose ,rear pot.Remove this and fill the rad until coolant runs out, replace allen screw and copper washer nip up tight. Then squeeze the top hose, air bubbles will come out of the rad filler, top up rad, repeat this several times, until there are no more bubbles to be seen.Replace rad cap.Run bike for a few mins, allow to cool and top up the overflow tank between marks and you're done.
