748 Gearing change?

Can anybody help with this one. I am looking at a new chain & sprockets for my stock 748 Bip. Is there any value in changing the gearing from 14/38? I only ride on the street, no track days yet and i don't mind losing some top end.

So what would be a better gearing option and what changes will i expect.

Mood: stiff and tired
I changed to 14: 39 and for the short time i used it i found it to be much better. I think that Desmojen also went for the same.

I went for 14/39 too, if only to move the tyre further from the hugger

I wanted to keep the "long-legged" feel, although plenty of people go 14/40 or even 14/41. ONe tooth on the back is a pretty minal change; you'll hardly notice it.
You will need a longer chain, though, and your ride height re-set.

14/40 (96 link chain) keeps everything in the sweetspot

Possibly the cheapest thing you can change, and yet quite noticeable.

Here's one of the definitive threads on this, including a recommended gearing chart.

Thank you all for your quick responses. Looks like a 14/40 as per Shazams thread.
