ECU faliure, a flook?

Well my racing carrer has not started that well. 1st race at Oulton in July so I booked a track day at 3 sisters to get some idea of how the bike handles (which means how ****e I am at riding it).

Apart from the fact the damn thing breaks away at the rear in corners for fun I only managed 30 minutes track time. Bike went on to one cylinder, stopped changed everything possible without success. Packed up and called in at Ital sport who lent me an ECU which turned out to be the problem. So......does this happen to you guys often or have I just been unlucky. These things are £800 new I need a bigger overdraft

Cheers.
Neil

Should have gone Class B 583. You have to pay big bucks in the Gucci class.

Not a very constructive comment Phil! Neil has a problem & I'm sure it can be resolved for far less than £800, There are a few Fim ecu's around for less than half that price or ecu/clocks & key from a breaker.

Not much difference in the cost of running a 620 to a 583 by the way, I run both

I wasn't intending to be/seem sarcastic, just light hearted banter. Seems in short supply these days tho'.

Glad you have got sorted out.

Hi Neil,

I'm a bit late on this thread but I think stock ECU failures have been rare (stands by for contradiction) but a couple of the FIMs have had odd problems over the years.

It sounds like you've got the Red key, so that's one less challenge for you!

Good luck,
Paul

i found an FIM to be a cheaper option than OEM. another option is the ducati performance ecu, which also comes with an exhaust

It may be worth having a hunt around for the DP ECU. I sold one recently for £50.
