Thanks for the chart John, and thanks for the info on the slipper clutch Antonye.
So in escence the slipper just stops the bike from being over-revved, correct ?
I've never been to the EICMA show before, and was astounded by the size and number of exhibitors there. Was disappointed that Honda and Yamaha weren't there though.
Anyway, what did i think of the 1200 Multi ?
Gorgeous.
MCN gave it pretty good coverage this week, so I had a reasonable idea of what I would be seeing, but it looks even better in real life.
Sadly we weren't allowed to sit on it (one lady did - sorry I'm not sure of her name - expect the clip to make u-tube shortly though). I got told off for just touching the bike !
Everything looks well thought out.
The S-Sports model comes with carbon bits, and the S-Touring version has panniers, centre stand, & heated grips instead of the carbon. All the bits are going to be available as accessories though so its possible to have both.
I tried to have a chat with the marketing man but as to be expected he was major busy.
there are apparently bigger covers for the panniers which increase capacity by around 20 litres (total I think, not each). There will be taller / wider screen options too.
The bike has a connector in the loom ready to power a satnav, and a couple of accessory sockets back near the seat for powering heated clothing etc.
There is a cubby hole up the front on the right side. Not sure if there is one on the left or if the cover that is there is for the fuses (the guy didn't know and wouldn't open it for me).
The bikes were also showing a couple of varieties of after market cans.
Not sure I'll bother with these as my ST4S is so loud it might make a chance to have a quiet(er) bike for a while
I have some pics, so will try to post them tomorrow (I'm out this evening).
One of the guys I spoke to said production is going to start shortly (i.e. this year) and first bikes should make the dealers in March, though they might be the demonstrators only. He confirmed S models only to start with.
Anyone else who went yesterday care to pass comment on what they saw ?
