Headlamp glass

OK, so the gents at Snell's have quoted me £275= , for the headlamp assy. on the
4 s. which is a HUGE amount for a piece of glass, which is the only bit affected, with a 10 p. size defect , with a hole preforating right thru'. A flint , probably....

Does anyone have some info. on replacement glass availiability, as buying the whole unit at this price is daft, as there is nought wrong with either headlamp.

Advise , links , info. Thanks.

Try GP motorcycles in Pontypridd - they're breaking a few ST's at the mo'.
If you go the eBay route, don't worry if you can only find a lhd lamp - the only difference between the lhd & rhd ones is a small metal blind screwed in to the polyepsilloidal lens ( the bullseye one for dip ).
Take the dip bulb out & look into the lamp from the back & you'll see it running across the front of the lens - just unscrew & replace with the one from your rhd lamp!

DD headlamps

Hang on a mo - why replace the utterly crap ST headlamp with the same again, when Paul Gellar at Ducati Designs makes such a highly rated projector replacement for about $US450? - dunno what postage/duty to UK will be - haven't got around to ordering myself yet.

Usual disclaimer - no connection, but just seems like a really decent bloke making really good stuff...

Looks a good piece of kit, but at $450
PLUS $100 to slosh some paint on, it rather steep, added to which VAT, del. , etc. , but thanks for pointing it out ......

And many thanks to Rushjob's mates at GP in Wales who have the very unit at £90 + vat, so cheque is on the way.

I know what you mean about the weak headlight - compared to my Hayabusa they are like a candle vs. a floodlight.

I fitted extra lights from www.motolight.com last year on the ST. They mount on the flared piece of each fork leg and make a massive difference. Riding at night is no longer a scary slow affair. Also, I must be more visible in the rear-view mirrors of cars during the day as they tend to pull over to the left more readily.

I was concerned that they look a bit daft but my mates assure me they're OK. What the hell - in my view the advantages far outweigh any issues about how they look.

I'll try & post a couple of photos after the weekend.
