Class A

I hope to run in the DD series next year, as I have a national license I need to run in the Class A 618cc.

Looking at the regulations it mentions that everything about what you need to keep. My question is – because the 750ss uses the same bottom end can I change the Heads, Barrels and pistons for the 618cc, or do I need to run the 600 cases?

I’m currently building a Race 888 so I’m trying to keep the cost down for the first year. So I'm looking at different ways of obtaining a bike as there does not appear to be many Class A bikes for sale or even rent.

What I should have asked is:- Can I use a 750ss / monster Bike and downgrade to a 618cc. Looking at the regs everything can be upgrade to a 750ss spec apart from the engine CC.

You can use your 750 cases just be mindful of the oil ferrule between the cases and barrels as on my 750 cases the holes are larger than the 618.

would it actually be cheaper to replace the heads & barrels? a used engine ain't that much.

Hi Mike

No real problem with you using a 750 bottom end providing 620 Heads, barrels and Pistons are used, But as mentioned by Phil oil-ways etc can differ,

There are 3 varieties of 750 Cases that I know of, the old carb'd cases the first of the 750s with the clutch slave on the left and the later ones which do away with a O-ring between the cases and the barrels

I still have my spare 620 for sale at £2200

The one James is advertising is another good bike I know as it's one I sold last year

So Mike you will also be after a 6-speed gearbox to go in a set of 750 Cases, along with the barrels, pistons and complete heads its not going to be a cheap build
